In the top corner you can see the 4-pin power connector, which is nicely placed out of the way. Try removing the power switch connector and using a screwdriver to briefly short the pins together.

Thanks for taking the time to write. I’m not familiar with your board, but know when I select AHCI mode on my main Controller IC9r all my drives bar those on the Jmicron controller disappear from the bios Sats option page. Neither are ‘flagged’ as SATA. Copyright c Tweak Town Pty Ltd.
I think that the best hope I have of getting a working sta is to install my replacement CPU in the second motherboard and hope to God it fires up. You could always use the LiveCd option on another distro to compare.

When I had the first system board in the case, it did appear to be resting correctly on the standoffs, and I was able to screw in all five retaining screws into the standoff holes without any strain or flexing. Are you sure the “power” switch jumper is on the right pins on the motherboard?
Sat Apr 26, 8: Before I open the box and make the new CPU un-returnable, I would very much like to confirm that I am performing all the necessary steps to allow the system board to power on such as jumpering certain pins, etc.
I recently picked up some components from NewEgg to put together a home lab system: For something that important the pins that the case jumpers tie into are often the most ill documented and labeled on all the motherboards I’ve used.
Anyway, thanks again for your willingness to help out. I have found that most people forget the 4 power connector to the mobo whenever I have plugged in the 24 pin connector but leave out the 4 pin My Bios version is 1. Would appreciate any advise you can give please.
Need help troubleshooting Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H POST failure
Any and all guidance will be very much appreciated. I have enabled usb legacy storage and I have set usb-zip as the szta boot device but nevertheless the board continues to boot from the hd. I also reseated all of the memory. I do agree that system boards belong in cases instead of sitting out exposed even on an ESD matbut as you indicated, I wanted to see if the standoffs were causing a short, and it was the safest way that I had available to test this angle.

Ideally, this board will be targeted at HTPC and budget conscious consumers. I’m actually not at the machine right now. My theory at this point is that I may not have ka69gm the Ma69gn completely in the first system board, then damaged it when I clamped the heatsink on top of it.
I really appreciate your comment since I find myself feeling very much the same way – for something as fundamental as powering on the system, wouldn’t you think that these requirements would be better documented?
